Hygienic Centrifugal Pumps

High velocity pumping of large volumes of low viscosity fluids

Hygienic centrifugal pumps are constructed in stainless-steel and used for the transfer of large volumes of thin fluids like water, food oil & CIP fluid.

Hygienic Centrifugal Pumps

Designed to transfer high volumes of low viscosity fluids, centrifugal pumps are the most common pump type in use around the world.

Used in many industries, there are variations in design and materials of construction. Our focus is on hygienic centrifugal pumps constructed from stainless steel and our typical fluid transfer applications would include water, beer, spirits, oils and juices.

Hygienic centrifugal pumps are also used in ‘Clean-in-Place’ (CIP) processes to clean pipework and other inline pumps and equipment by pumping high velocity cleaning fluids.

Centrifugal pump operation

Centrifugal pumps move liquids using kinetic energy to overcome head (pressure) and produces flow by increasing the velocity of a fluid through the pump via a rotating vane impeller.

Centrifugal pumps are perfect for high volume transfers of low viscosity fluids via high speed rotating impellers.

The rotating impeller increases pressure and moves the fluid. The fluid enters the pump close to the rotating axis (or eye) of the impeller and enters the cavities between the vanes of the impeller. As the pump impeller rotates, the fluid flows outward from the central axis into a chamber where it is discharged.

As the fluid leaves the the axis of the impeller, a low pressure area is created and this draws more liquid into the pump inlet.

Typical Applications

Hygienic centrifugal pumps are constructed from stainless-steel and used by hygienic manufacturers to pump thin fluids.

  • Water
  • Beer
  • Fruit juice
  • Food oils like sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, vegetable oil etc..

Another major application of stainless-steel centrifugal pumps is CIP (clean-in-place) processes. Centrifugal pumps are ideal for pumping diluted caustic cleaning fluids at high velocity through pipework and CIP-ready pipeline items like process pumps, valves etc. to scour and sanitise production lines.

Other Centrifugal Pumps

As well as hygienic centrifugal pumps, we also supply industrial centrifugal pumps for water, waste-water, chemical and other non-hygienic processes in production areas. These come in many forms and materials including cast-iron and corrosion resistant plastics.
